Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. Our skin is made up of more than 75% collagen, which we gradually lose from about our mid-twenties onwards, and as we get older, the proportion of collagen in the body decreases. Collagen is present throughout the body. It contributes to the normal function of skin, bones, cartilage, gums, teeth and blood vessels.
